We Be Sisters was founded by Anesca Smith, a South African-born business graduate who resides in the Netherlands.

In 2018 she won the Public Prize for the 99PowerWomen Awards.

Before coming to the Netherlands Smith was a political journalist in Cape Town and foreign correspondent in London with career highlights such as meeting Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama.

We Be Sisters don't do mass-production.  All items are made to order and in limited numbers.

This approach eliminates the problem of excess inventory and waste that is commonly associated with fast-fashion. It also allows customers to purchase products which can be customised to their specifications.
